Records and is involved on many cultural and civic boards.  Gill coined the term NuLu and was instrumental in turning the area into a thriving arts/design/local food and sustainable district (he co-developed The Green Building, Kentucky's greenest commercial structure).  He helps lead revitalization for Louisville’s historic Portland neighborhood.  He co-founded the Outsider Art Museum & Gallery and is now working in Appalachia (starting with the Harlan County Beer Company) to address USA’s urban-rural divide. He has a long history with Nantucket.
