Cultivating Community

Tamika R. Guishard is a native Brooklynite with roots in St. Kitts & Nevis who joins us in the midst of continued work as a “pedagogical filmmaker”. Profiled in her alma mater’s, Andover Magazine as a trailblazer, she is a former middle school teacher and Park Ranger dubbed the “doula of cinema and pedagogy”. An NYU Grad Film and IFP alumna most recently winning the Rooftop Films Filmmaker Fund, she remains grounded in her community as a new media champion for NYC’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), having obtained working papers in her hometown as a teenager. Fusing storytelling and curriculum to ground topical conversations and build community, T fits right into our small, but mighty, team as our inaugural Community Manager.
