For over 25 years, we have welcomed feature screenwriters to Almanack Pond Farm each October, offering a retreat experience nestled in the heart of Nantucket's cranberry bog conservation land. Writers-in-residence are given the time and space to create, develop, reimagine, and refine their work in a setting designed for deep and sustained creative focus.
We champion original storytelling in all its forms and believe the strongest cohorts emerge from a range of voices, perspectives, and cinematic sensibilities. The October Colony supports writers working across the breadth of feature filmmaking.
Throughout the residency, accomplished filmmakers, screenwriters, producers, and industry mentors join us on Nantucket for one-on-one feedback sessions, shared meals, and intimate conversations that extend well beyond the page.
