As the creative explosion in the powerful world of VR progresses, and the technology becomes available to larger audiences, we are starting to see its possibilities as an artistically compelling storytelling medium. Together with META: The Art of Being There we hosted our first Colony program in July 2016 dedicated to exploring narrative storytelling in Virtual Reality and examining the language of writing for this new medium.

In 2017 we partnered with Harmony Labs, Google, Sensorium Works, and Institute of Play on a Virtual Reality Action Lab to create original pieces of VR content intended to combat bullying.

In April 2021 we partnered with our friends at the Nantucket Film Festival to host a new virtual experience for screenwriters. This online series offered a combination of master class and intimate conversation with five preeminent filmmakers: CHARLIE KAUFMAN, NANCY MEYERS, STELLA MEGHIE, GREGORY NAVA, and LESLIE DIXON. 2017 Alumna KAITLIN FONTANA hosted the series.

Each session was live and unique as guest speakers shared insights on storytelling, craft, and the industry. Topics were wide ranging, from dialogue and structure to how to generate and develop your best ideas.
