Champions of screenwriters and screenwriting are few and far between, but since 2005, Franklin Leonard has been one of them. The Blacklist has been around since 2005 and any writer would be happy to be on it. While many people no longer consider it a list of ‘underdog’ or challenging scripts, there is no doubt that Franklin has found a way to bring attention to what we believe is the most important element of a great film: the script. With readings and partnerships like this year’s one with the LGBTQ media advocacy group GLAAD, Franklin and The Blacklist are doing important work to get the WORD out about screenwriters and storytellers from around the world.
