Three's a Charm: Jeffrey Soros / Sundance 2020
In Sundance news, Jeffrey Soros, Co-CEO of LA Media Fund and our esteemed Board of Directors Chair, has no less than three feature films in competition at Sundance 2020. Jeffrey supports writers, filmmakers, and story tellers of all kinds, both as a producer and as a leader at Screenwriters Colony. Here is a glimpse of the films soon to be seen by audiences:
SHIRLEY was directed by Josephine Decker and written by Sarah Gubbins. Fellow producers on the project include Christine Vachon, David Hinojosa, Sue Naegle, and Simon Horsman. Cast includes Elisabeth Moss, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Odessa Young. The film is about a young couple that moves in with the famed author, Shirley Jackson, and her Bennington College professor husband, Stanley Hyman, in the hope of starting a new life but instead find themselves fodder for a psycho-drama that inspires Shirley's next novel.
SOME KIND OF HEAVEN was directed by Lance Oppenheim. Fellow producers include Darren Aronofsky, Kathleen Lingo, Melissa Oppenheim Lano, Pacho Velez, and Simon Horsman). The story follows four residents of America’s largest retirement community, The Villages, FL, as they strive to find happiness and meaning.
SUMMERTIME was directed by Carlos Lopez Estrada and written by Dave Harris, 19 Get Lit Poet. Producers include: Kimberly Stuckwisch, Alisa Tager, Simon Horsman, and Diane Luby Lane). The film takes place in the heat of the summer when the lives of 25 strangers collide. It’s described as a love letter to Los Angeles written and performed by a collective of young spoken word poets.
