Filmmaker Simbiat Hall graduated with honors from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a double major from the Institute of Film & TV and the Dramatic Writing Program. Ms. Hall is an alumna of AFI’s prestigious “Directing Workshop for Women,” “The Guy Hanks & Marvin Miller Screenwriting Fellowship” at USC and studied acting at HB Studios in New York City and with Sam Christensen in Los Angeles.

Simbi Hall has worked on a number of documentary and multi- camera live shows for every major network as well as MTV, VH1 & BET. Hall has served as a producer and segment producer for the official Academy Awards red carpet telecast for over a decade and was a segment producer on the Emmy nominated ABC “Disney Parks’ Magical Christmas Celebration.” Hall is also a writer and producer on the “Women That Soar Awards,” hosted by Tyra Banks.

Simbi Hall’s feature script THE ONE, a romantic comedy about a woman who falls in love with herself, was honored at the Aspen Comedy Fest as Best Comedy Feature. Hall was hired by Das Films to re-write and direct the feature project THE RED THREAD, a romantic-drama set in Shanghai. Simbi Hall also sold MIXED, an hour-long, comedic- drama series to Lifetime as the writer and co-executive producer and recently finished writing a film set in the world of competitive dance for Pilgrim Media.

Ms. Hall’s short film LONG STORY SHORT received prizes and praise from many film festivals including AFI Fest, The Aspen Comedy Festival, the Boston and Chicago International Film Festivals, SXSW, UrbanWorld and The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas. The film has been distributed worldwide and is available on iTunes. (Password: short) Ms. Hall was honored by the Los Angeles County Museum as part of their “Young Directors Night.”

Ms. Hall is currently developing a slate of projects with film veterans Cheryl Boone Isaacs and Reuben Cannon. Ms. Hall was one of four writers selected for the 2017- 2018 writer-in-residence fellowship at the prestigious Nantucket Screenwriters Colony where she wrote SUNDAY MORNING which will mark her feature film directorial debut, with Cheryl Boone Isaacs producing. Currently Ms. Hall is adapting the Bebe Moore Campbell novel SINGING IN THE COMEBACK CHOIR; Reuben Cannon is producing and the legendary Debbie Allen will direct the feature.

Ms. Hall also co-wrote and produced the star studded variety special MAKE IT WORK for Women In Film which premiered on the CW on August 26th and she is producing the politically driven talk show THE CARLOS WATSON SHOW for Ozy Media.
